Conservation and Environmental Change Research
NHNM conducts research on the impacts of climate change, energy development, and land and water use on sensitive species and ecosystems in New Mexico. Our current top priorities are:1) modeling crucial habitat requirements for sensitive species in New Mexico, 2) monitoring and assessing rare species population status and trends and 3) mapping the state's riparian areas and wetlands and building rapid assessment methods to support restoration and protection.
New Mexico Riparian Habitat Map
The New Mexico Riparian Habitat Map provides a comprehensive, fine-scale spatial view of the composition, cover, and structure of riparian and wetland vegetation along New Mexico’s perennial streams and rivers. Northern, middle, and northeast New Mexico are available.
