General Description
Coloradolemmoni Fairy Shrimp (Branchinecta coloradensis) is a large (11-25 mm) freshwater brachiopod that is distributed throughout the western U.S. and southwestern Canada. In New Mexico they are found in the Upper Rio Grande and the Rio Chama drainages. They inhabit a variety of alkaline aquatic habitats including pools, salt flats, and seasonal lakes between 100 and 3,000 m elevation.
