General Description

A medium sized dragonfly with white face, white costal veins, an amber spot at each wing base, and black stigmas. Female with front of thorax brown, sides white, abdomen black with interrupted dorsolateral yellow stripes. In males the thorax and base of the abdomen turn pale blue, while the rest of the abdomen turns black.
