General Description

Dunes Sagebrush Lizard (Sceloporus arenicolus) is a small (11-15 cm total length) lizard that is found in southeastern New Mexico and adjacent Texas. They live on and near sand dunes and shelter in burrows, in leaf litter, and by burrowing under the sand. They are closely associated with active shinnery oak (Quercus havardii) sand dune complexes with wind-created blowouts.
