General Description
Gila Springsnail (Pyrgulopsis gilae) is a small (shell length up to 4 mm) cool and warm spring snail that is only found in a series of springs along the East fork, Middle fork and mainstem of the Gila River in Grant County, New Mexico. They inhabit rivulets of about 1 m in width that are 14-27?C and contain vegetation such as watercress (Nasturtium officinale).
