The GIS
Program supports all project activities at the New Mexico Natural
Heritage Program. GIS is integrated into a diverse set of projects that
include vegetation mapping, animal movement analyses, conservation site
selection, fire ecology, vegetation change detection, and habitat models.
NHNM specializes in ESRI GIS and ERDAS Imagine
applications.
See GIS Standards. |
| NHNM has been using satellite imagery since
1992 to map the distribution of plant communities and model
potential habitat for plants. |
| The program is currently developing an internet
mapping site in cooperation with the Department of Defense. |
